If Tyrann Mathieu had any hopes of stepping foot back in Death Valley again next season, it’s safe to say those thoughts are merely a pipe dream. According to ESPN, Mathieu was arrested today on drug charges after officers found him and three other former LSU football players in possession of marijuana. Among the three other former players was former quarterback Jordan Jefferson.
It’s a real shame to see how far Mathieu has fallen after being a contender for the Heisman Trophy in 2011. Mathieu was enrolled back at LSU in the hopes of earning the trust back of head coach Les Miles and possibly participating with the football program next season. Mathieu was locked in as a top-ten pick in the NFL Draft whenever he decided to enter. Now, it’s safe to assume that Mathieu may never wear an NFL uniform and become the subject of a future ESPN “30 For 30″ documentary. Sometimes, stupid just can’t be explained.
