Contrary to the report earlier this afternoon by Montreal Gazette writer, Herb Zurkowsky, Stephen Garcia is still very much a member of the Montreal Alouettes. Zurkowsky reported earlier today that the Alouettes signed former LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson, which is in fact the truth. However, Garcia was not released nor has he left the team.
We spoke with Garcia earlier today via email and he appeared just as surprised as we did of the report. Garcia told us.
“I have not left the team. I’m in Tampa for a family matter. Since I do not travel with the team, I received permission to remain home for a few days.”
So, as you can see, there is no truth to the report. We decided to tweet Herb Zurkowsky and let him know that his report was false. In turn, Herb decided he wanted to be a “Twitter Tough Guy.” He was appropriately punished for being a smart mouth with a bad joke.
Garcia remains on the nine game injury list for the season. Stay tuned as we’ll continue to keep everybody updated on the former Gamecock signal caller.
