2013 Four-Star commit Connor Mitch spoke with TheBigSpur.com after his recent commitment to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Interestingly enough, Mitch explains a comment that head coach Steve Spurrier made during the recruitment process saying that if Mitch committed to the Gamecocks it “would extend his coaching career 2-3 more years.” It’s safe to say from that statement alone, Coach Spurrier might have found the quarterback that he’s been longing for throughout his eight year tenure in Columbia.
Gamecock fans will sure be in for a ride on the “Spurrier Quarterback Carrousel” after Connor Shaw’s career ends. South Carolina has built some young, incredible depth at the quarterback position, with redshirt freshman Tanner McEvoy having a year under his belt, the arrival of Brendan Nosovitch next season, and now Connor Mitch being added to the fold. Things are only looking up from this point for the surging Gamecocks and their already stout 2013 recruiting class.
